RIKKE HOSTRUP

Rikke Hostrups photography moves from genre to genre; portrait, landscape, still life can all be found in her constructed imagery of the everyday. Seemingly casual, sometimes snapshotlike, her photographs are a sociological and emotional research of the contemporary. Merely a romantic investigation, than an intellectual discourse, she takes pictures, in order to understand the world.

The images reflects her background as a painter, by emphasizing the picturesque qualities of the image. Her images are at once decorative surface and psychological depth. They are familiar and yet alienating.

Rikke Hostrup graduated from the Art Academy in Florence in 2003 and also holds a Master in Digital Design & Communication from the IT University of Copenhagen.
